Get your GAME on with GAME-A-CON back in Atlantic City !!!!.

Wow ! I don't even know where to start as I was blown away with Game a Con last year here in Atlantic City. I am now building a great relationship with some of the staff and I am looking forward to a great weekend coming up..... Oct 20th and 21st right here in AC at
 the New    Ocean Resort Casino,
 500 Boardwalk Ave.
Atlantic City, New Jersey

Hours: 10am-8pm Sat; 10am-6pm Sun

Now let's go back into the history of this awesome event. With the Gaming World Trendig so much these days, it's exciting to see this event come out to AC...... again..... With this event starting in AC, it is now gaining its momentum and broadening....2017 saw the first Game A Con event in Las Vegas. They expect to be back in 2019 .... and this year they will offer the first Game A Con in NYC at Resorts World Casino in Queens.....  In speaking with one of the executives at Game A Con, she gave me some good insight for me to pass along about the Company itself......

"Gameacon got it’s start 4 years ago.  Brainstorming with our advisory board - Coray Seifert, Dex Smither, Sean R. Scott and Edmar Mendizabal - a group of successful game developers with decades of game industry experience - partners Ben and Ari Fox decided that what was missing in the world was a convention for independent game developers.  The idea was to create a place to celebrate the artistry of game development.  We wanted to give indie devs a place to show off their work, network with other developers, learn from experts, and recognize outstanding work with awards.  Simultaneously, we wanted to provide a place for fans to playtest games, cosplay, find cool merch to buy, meet YouTube Celebs, LARP, watch fan films, listening to music and comedy and generally have a great time appreciating all things games.  We even have a giant laser tag room set up each year, just for the fun of it.

Ben and Ari had been working with casinos for some time, and decided that Atlantic City would be a great place to have a convention like Gameacon.  They envisioned holding a convention in a place nicer than the normal giant warehouse venue.  They thought that putting Gameacon in Atlantic City, at a casino hotel, would make it easy for people to come from all the surrounding metropolitan areas and have a nice place to stay with plenty of amenities like restaurants and nightlife, while giving the hosting venue an influx of people who may never have visited a casino hotel before and who may potentially become future customers.

Ben and Ari, besides producing Gameacon, also are on a mission to help casino hotels move beyond the old model of slot machines and table games which are more attractive to the older generation than of the new, and to embrace up-and-coming entertainment models which include eSports and the more skill-based gaming that people now prefer.  To that end, every Gameacon has eSport tournaments built in.  In years past Gameacon had only Smash tournaments, at times professional major events.  This year, the eSport tournaments will be amateur so that everyone can try their hand and winning some money or swag or just bragging rights.  The titles available for competition has swelled to include  Fortnite ($1250 prize pool!), Call of Duty 4 Black Ops, Smash, Tekken DX, MarioKart Deluxe, WindJammers, ARMs and Madden.  Also, because Microsoft is running the Fortnite Tournament, they are bringing along  Minecraft educational edition and Gears of War for fun friendly play.

Even though it is in a casino resort, Gameacon is very family friendly.  Every year we have a middle school who brings their game coding students to display their work and learn for gaming professionals.  This year Rutgers eSports will be there recruiting for their program. We expect to have a lot of kids wanting to have a chance to compete in the Fortnite tournament.

This year the Virtual Reality section of Gameacon has exploded.  Saber VR is bringing a whole host of fun games; we will have a racing simulator and many devs bringing VR games.  VR games which will be there will run from Boxing to cleaning up the oceans in a submarine submersible to an updated classic arcade shooter to a game the uses motion dynamics to capture movement to music.  I think the VR Village is one of the most exciting areas we have to offer, as it is still something which is too expensive to allow everyone to have it at home as of yet."

From Cos play to Vendors, awards ceremonies,  and all sorts of interactive activity.... checking out Game A Con is worth the trip. You can even just sit and watch the happenings unfold and that itself is so interesting. Last year, I got to play some cool new games from some of the inventors, watch some of the competition and enjoy a great panel discussion with the Cos Play artists..... Even had live music from Nerd Surge. It was really awesome and I'm so looking forward to attending this year as Press !

Stay tuned for the follow up story right here.... and if you are in the AC area, come check out

                                                GAME  A  CON !!

You can find Game A Con on Face Book  too !

Big Bad John...Broadway, Elvis...the sounds of John Monforto

Well, Well, Well...Good Tuesday morning as we are finally able to get a post up with the Amazing and Talented John Monforto !

Big Bad John !  Well Big and Tall and Bad in a good way.....what an entertainer ! I had the distinct pleasure of walking the Red Carpet for the John Monforto's Broadway show in Florida recently.

John Monforto began performing at the age of 6.  He later trained as a baritone vocalist by Julliard Voice Instructors.  He also took dance classes, acting classes and ballroom dancing.  After running the course of all he could study, day player roles on daytime TV, small movie roles, stand-in work for major motion pictures etc... he decided to move to New York City to pursue an acting career..... instead, he became an Elivs Tribute Artist.... or ETA as is known in the industry.

So the story goes that in NYC, John and his roommate, found jobs waiting tables at Great Aunt Fanny's Restaurant.  Talk about being at the right place at the right time.... I always feel these things that happen for a reason..... One night, John's roommate said, "Hey let's do some Elvis !"  John replied, "I don't do Elvis..."  Well they did Elvis anyway. John went up and did a "little Elvis" ....Just so happens, in the audience was Jean Ann Ryan Productions. Jean Ann loved john's voice and just happened to be looking for an Elvis Performer..... There you have it.... The next thing you know, John was being flown down to Miami doing Elvis, Broadway and top 10 hits.... From there he became the opening act on Norwegian Cruise Lines...and there began an Elvis Career.

John portrayed Elvis on billboards across Europe for the Sony Corporation . He portrayed Elvis for the National Archives Elvis/Nixon Exhibit and for thousands of venues from Coast to Coast.

When the movie ROCKY first came out...John found that he could imitate him. He was immediately scooped up by the City of Philadelphia to represent the City as Rocky !

In 1980,John married Debbie Flemming ( not to be confused with Peggy Flemming, right Deb?)  They now have 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren. Debbie runs just about everything on the road for John. From what I see, they make a great couple both personally and professionally !

"We are just a good team", says Debbie. "We both excel at different things. Who doesn't want to work with their best friend everyday and travel all over the Country !" They share responsibilities and collaborate on new ideas for John's audiences.

This past weekend, John appeared at the new Hard Rock Hotel/Casino in Atlantic City. He has performed all over the Country. When you see him, tell him you checked him out here at
AVA'S ALLOCATIONS

I felt so at home sitting and meeting with John and Debbie and some of their friends. I hope to continue this friendship moving forward and we will see and hear more from John Monforto !

Debra is also a Promoter in Florida and is known as
"Rock and Roll Deb"
The pleasure was all mine !

John provides entertainment as a trained baritone vocalist, and improvisational actor, a multi-clebrity impersonator , an impressionist, a tribute artist, song parody composer, comedic scrpt writer, comedian, voice over artist, producer, host and emcee......

*Thank you Debbie Flemming Monforto for your contribution to this post

Take me to Church!.....AGAIN....

Hellooooooo all,

As Summer is coming to a close and we enter into the Fall Season, I want to wish everyone a positive and successful slide into a New Year ahead. Keep all your dreams alive and do what you have to do to remain in a Happy State....

I have to say that was a challenge for me when I did 2 fashion week events in one weekend ! Those that know me best know how hectic, yet adventurous, each day brings me. This was crazier than usual culminating with my car breaking down in NYC on the exit ramp of a parking garage !!!!!

Now that all that is behind me, I can sort of get back on track here. This weekend I will be attending a family friend's 50th Anniversary party in Florida so expect a new post around this time next week and then we can get back to our weekends....

Let's go back a couple of weeks and visit with our friend, Doug Church. When we started adding the Elvis segments, Doug was the 2nd of our blogs on Elvis Tribute Artists. He has graced us with a great performance right here in Hammonton, NJ..... I am so honored to call him a friend and someone I so respect in the industry. Shout out to Pat, Doug's promoter, who made this all happen for us again.....

Doug was no stranger to getting the crowd going on a hot humid night outside in Hammonton.... By the end of the evening, everyone was on their feet and dancing in the streets ...so to say !

......And the giving of the scarves.....

Seen here with my good friend, Linda McLaughlin

Doug has performed all over the World and in many places in New Jersey as well. It's such a pleasure when I get the opportunity to see him. After speaking with him on the phone several times, it was so great to finally meet him in person this time around.

To find out where he will be and when , visit his site at
www.dougchurch.net

To catch him around this neck of the woods, he will be performing on Nov. 24th at the Harrington Casino- Harrington Delaware....Dec. 8th at the Levoy Theatre in Milliville, NJ... Feb 15th at Valley Brook Country Club -Blackwood, NJ and Feb 16th at the Sheraton Hotel in Langhorne, PA

Doug is really a tribute artist that has become an Icon in his own right. He is so true to the sound and style of Elvis and could not be any more gracious and kind off the stage too !

Here is a 3 min. clip for you to enjoy of a recent performance in Memphis Tenn....

So once again, we spotlight Doug Church in our posts.... Having him in the area made me want to expose you all to him again if you don't already know of him....

Take me to Church.....again....with the one and only DOUG CHURCH !

Enjoy !

Good morning all...

Mid week events sometimes get me a little behind here . So here we are.... Summer coming to a close and new and exciting things on the horizon for the Fall and Winter of 2018.  Remember to always shoot for the moon, for if you miss, you will land among the stars.....

Many of our locals know that when August Rolls around we get to hear the rolling sounds of Thunder Over the Boardwalk. This is the annual Atlantic City Air Show . It's always and honor and a pleasure to go out and cover it.  This year, along with Lisa Diane Hall of LD TV, and Mijatovic Polanco of Mr. Panting Productions, we got to see and hear it all again.... yes, in the sweltering heat. The heat did not stop many people from all over attending the air show. Appearances by Tony Orlando and the American Bombshells were also part of the festivities. The boardwalk was filled with engaging activities for all to partake in.  T-shirts, fun gadgets, trivia and various things to do graced both sides of the boardwalk as you made your way down to the beach to watch the show.

Make your network work for you !

Good Tuesday everyone. As I doctor a horrible cough that has lasted a month now, I have a little down time  (not really ) to reflect on a few things and am always looking at ways to move forward in a positive direction....

First, let me say a big thank you to all my friends and fans who have helped to take this blog to over 62,000 viewers over the past few years. I find it truly humbling and I feel blessed that you take time to check us out !

Now let's talk about your NETWORK... The phrase I love the most that I've learned over the years of networking is that it is not NET- SIT or NET- EAT.... even though sitting and eating may accompany your networking aspect at the end of the day it is NET- WORK !  This means you have to WORK, hello......

Well how do we do that????   The first tip I can give you after networking for many , many years, is to build relationships. People do business with people they KNOW, LIKE, & TRUST.... When you build those 3 things...the rest will follow.  Your network should not only be your "sales" meeting yet it should also be your extended family.

Many of you know that I love to network. I love to get to know people and have them get to know me. I've been involved in many groups and organizations and still sit on 3 boards today !   In this post, I want to talk about a particular group of people....that is my SOUTH JERSEY NETWORK  family....

This is a unique group as we come together to really get to know one another...and that is how we help make all of our businesses not only survive yet thrive.....

Once a year, we put on a huge networking event that is open to anyone wanting to network with strong like minded professionals.  In our regular routine, we meet twice a month...once for lunch and once for a "business person social" in the early evening.... We are closing in on 100 members making us the largest group of its' kind on the East Coast.

Here is just a glimpse from our last big event.... this one took place at the Linwood Country Club and I had the pleasure of working with Awesome TV . The 1st interview is with Designer and guest Al Seerville. The 2nd interview is with my husband and  SJN member, Art Korth. (These are short clips)

                                                                       AL SEMERVILLE

For this extravaganza that we do once a year, we provide thousands of dollars of prizes that you can walk away with... food... and the most awesome networking you can imagine. Our last event like this one yielded over 600 people.  Can you network deeply with that crowd ? Probably not, yet you take this time to make a connection and that connection grows into something that takes you to the next level....then you improve on THAT !

                                                                     ART KORTH

"OMG ! How do I get into all that?", you ask.... well I am here to tell you....

This year, Aug. 28th from 6-9 PM  join us at the
GREATE BAY COUNTRY CLUB
901 Somers Point Mays Landing Rd.
Somers Point, NJ  08244

If you are in the South Jersey or surrounding area, you can get into this event for FREE with a special ticket. It just so happens the ticket is attached here for you so you can come ! WOO HOO!

If you are not in the area, please check out your local networking groups aside from your chambers and other places. Find a category SPECIFIC  group so you can build solid relationships in different areas of your business.

For more information, you can always reach out to me here or at my web page
www.4astar.com

Let me know if you are coming to our awesome event to meet our South Jersey Network Family ...
AND TO NET-WORK !

.....and remember, tell them AVA sent you !....

John Monforto on the go..... As Elvis !

Yay ! Back to Sunday posts and our latest edition of ETA's.  We missed last month with all the stories going on.... so much happening that 2018 and 2019 are sure to be jam packed with cool stuff. Thank you all for taking a few moments to read..... and engage !

Say hello to JOHN MONFORTO... John is such an accomplished entertainer. He has a repertoire of more than just Elvis, yet here we are featuring him as Elvis.... so let's get the formal stuff written first.... LOL....

John comes to us from New Jersey...woo hoo ! John's years of experience on the road performing enable him to entertain us in small gatherings as well as corporate settings and larger stages....

"JOHN IS A BARITONE VOCALIST, CELEBRITY IMPERSONATOR, TRIBUTE ARTIST, IMPRESSIONIST, IMPROVISATIONAL ACTOR, HOST, PRESENTER, PRODUCER, VOICE OVER ARTIST AND COMEDIC SCRIPT WRITER".....
Wow all in one person !!!!  I guess us creatives have a virtual office of talents within ourselves... LOL

John has been seen as Elvis on many billboards across Germany for Sony as well as Performing as Elvis for the Norwegian Cruise Lines.... He is also the official Rocky Balboa Impersonator for the City of Philadelphia !

John began singing and performing at an early age...He continued acting after school and worked with numerous bands and performers.

John's ability to capture and audience of 10 or 10,000 keeps him in high demand for various projects including radio, TV and corporate functions to name a few....

John has been performing now over 30 years and keeping us all entertained.

Seen above with ELAINE CHEZ as Marilyn !

I have had the pleasure of speaking with his partner and business associate, Debbie Flemming Montforto and found our conversation to be quite engaging.  I am looking forward to  a repeat story on John in the future as well as some of our other ETA's.

I'm thrilled to , not only , have reported on these ETA's yet have become friends with them. This is especially true of Richie Santa as well as Jimmy T. as Elvis, Walt Sanders, Peter Alden and several others....  ( find them on Face Book too ) I'm truly blessed to know these performers  and to call them friends.  Stay tuned as we continue reporting on ETA's across the Country....Hats off to John Monforto.... as Elvis !
